Crossovers are DOMINATING the market! SUVs DECIMATING passenger car peers!! Sedan sales are DOOMED !!! *soap opera organ cue* Whelp, we all know this means... DRAMATIC DEPRECIATION!!!! Are there any FWD sedans you like?

While not something I’ve really considered, I am curious about the 410 hp, twin turbo V6, AWD Cadillac XTS V-Sport Platinum. Looks like 2014 models are around $35,000 which is pretty decent coming from a $73,000 MSRP.

“are there any FWD sedans”
*posts a AWD sedan*

no, base model FWD doesnt count.

I’d choose the accord V6.

I think that XTS hits the sweet spot. I still can’t believe reviewers were calling it just a gussied up Impala. They missed the point entirely.

If I can’t find the convertible I want, maybe I’ll get one of these.

I don’t think there is a base FWD model, unless you consider the Impala.

Like? No.

Wouldn’t mind having even though I don’t like where the power is sent? Impala, Verano, Mazda6.

It’s a gussied up AWD trim of the Impala.

According to you lot, it’s not the wheels that are driven which determine the drive, it’s the character of the vehicle coming out of the corner. *fings fingers*

I thought AWD wasn’t standard until you get the turbo V6? Now I’ll have to check because I could have sworn on me mum you could go Platinum and FWD...

I kind of like the new Conti, though my preferred trim is AWD only.

Since the A8 was originally available with a FWD base, of which approximately none were sold, I choose that.

I mean the Accord sport still isn’t bad and its one of very few that still even offer a manual in mid size.

I’m actually a fan of this generation of Impala. It’s a long boat that’s a giggle to drive.

Hrrrm.... I’d say very few. I’ll list them below, also, these cars only count if they have a manual. Any automatic versions are banished from my list of “FWD sedans I like.”

Lets see, i like Civic Si Sedans from the mid-2000's. Those have nice high RPM redlines and i bet they’re reasonably fun to drive with their lightweight chassis.

Kinja'd!!!

I like the corolla XRS (first gen only) for the same reasons as the civic, but i’m slightly more tickled by the weird sleeperness of it.

Kinja'd!!!

Early 90's Maxima sedans were good, after they switched to the 190 hp engine but before they switched to the 240hp one and ruined their rear suspension. (4DSC SON!)

Kinja'd!!!

The Ford Taurus SHO (first gen) was such a merciless piece of shit when it comes to build quality that it almost doesn’t count. But somehow i still kind of like them.

Kinja'd!!!

Mazdaspeed Protege, hey cool and turbocharged before turbocharged was cool. Also major props for being built in very limited numbers.

Kinja'd!!!

There’s gotta be more, but i’m coming up blank right now. I guess a first gen Mazda6 might be acceptable. Northstar V8 Cadillacs are funny and not horribly slow. But man. 4 doors and FWD if generally a pretty brutal combination. That said, id totally own any of the cars i listed other than the SHO.

I swear back then when they first released it they said that was the differentiator, they won’t offer FWD. Guess I’m wrong. Found some results saying the Professional vehicles trim come in FWD.

but...but...i dont like new or newer cars....

Actually, your avatar reminds me, Acura TL circa 2006? Good car. FWD and 4-doors. Also Accord Euro R. And actually the first gen TSX as well, if we’re talking European Accords....

Kinja'd!!!

Good power, good handling, good looking.

Kinja'd!!!

First gen Euro R makes me HNNNNNNGGGG

This is what Goldilocks would drive. Does everything good, nothing spectacular all while reminding us that there was a time when cars used to be neither fat, nor fat looking.

The SEL Taurus is a nice ride in FWD trim. I liked my Fusion too. The Malibu is shit, as is the Impala (as good as it looks) I think the 2.0l turbo Fusion is probably the best combo of sport/good looks/decent mileage in a FWD car. I prefer AWD though, so it would be a Taurus SHO or a Fusion Sport for me.

Taurus SHO or Lincoln MKS tickle the same spots at about half the price. Hell, you could have a modified brand new 11 second SHO for the same price as a XTS.

The new Regal (Opel Insignia) should be pretty nice. GM is revealing the Regal tomorrow.

That would be great if I liked the Taurus or MKS. I had a rental Taurus last Fall, and I liked it fine, but not anywhere near how much I like the XTS. The Caddy is a luxury car, whereas the Taurus is premium, but not luxury.

Except the problem is the XTS rides like a Impala, in base form has a gutless 3.6l and even in XTS V-sport trim the interior materials were less impressive than my time in an MKZ ecoboost.

To each their own, I suppose

I’m a fan of the XTS as well; it’s a handsome car, especially in darker colors.

There are actually a lot of FWD sedans I like. At the lower levels you’ve got the Mazda 6, Kia Optima, Chrysler 200. My grandparents have a Buick Regal which is pretty nice. The Audi A3, Volvo S60, S90, and what I think is one of the best-looking new sedans: the Volkswagen Arteon.

I’d say the Mazda 6 is pretty solid. Also, the Fusion’s design has aged pretty well.

You can’t go terribly wrong with the TLX or ES, either. The Lexus is crazy successful for a reason. Buttery soft ride, impeccable build quality, silent interior.
